Variegated Solomon’s Seal has attractive foliage which deer and rabbits avoid, a nice semi shade to shade garden plant native to the USA, Kissing cousin to the Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis).
Blooms mid-April with fragrant flowers. It takes a while for a nice colony to form, but worth the wait. Drought tolerance after establishment.
Family: Asparagaceae
Name derivation: Taken from the shape of the leaf scar formed at the rhizome where the stem attaches. Depending on the species, the scar can take the form of two triangles, overlapping, which is the symbol King Solomon used to represent the union of body and soul. King Solomon was ruler of Palestine from 961 to 931 BC. The plant has been used medicinally for a number of applications.
